Meet the Doctor

Dr. Michelle Hofer received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry with minors in Physics and Biology from USD and her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Indiana University School of Dentistry. Dr. Hofer was raised in Brandon, SD and after school did a solo start-up practice in Fort Pierre, SD.


Dr. Hofer has served the Dental Association as Delegate of the Southern District, Southern District President, Secretary-Treasurer for the Board of Trustees and the President of the Board of Trustees. She has also served on the Lake Area Technical Institute Advisory Board.


Dr. Hofer’s most valuable time is spent with her family, with her husband, Jonathon, and two children, Grady and Rayya. Jon and Michelle both enjoy helping the kids begin saving for their college through the family sweet corn sales. Dr. Hofer loves coaching the kids in soccer, basketball and softball. She also relishes time to herself running and has completed 6 marathons, including 2 Boston Marathons.

Taking Time to Give Back

Dr. Hofer also serves on many Pierre and Fort Pierre fundraising and community task-forces. Some of these include: Fort Pierre Development Corporation, President of the United Way Funded “Growing Up Together Program”, “4 on the 4th in Fort” run in Fort Pierre, Healthy Hometown Committee for Fort Pierre, and chairs the St. Joseph School Extravaganza.


Dr. Hofer enjoys providing affordable and accessible dental care for those less fortunate and has been serving as the Pierre Indian Learning Center dentist since August of 2007. She has also offered free care to the public youth on the annual  “Give Kids A Smile Day” since 2007 and has served at the St. Francis Mission. She enjoys being part of the Siouxland Study Club where she continues to grow in her knowledge in how she can best serve her patients and community. She shares her love for dentistry by speaking publicly with students at multiple elementary schools and through the “Women in Science Program."
